WP/Gantry site loading without widgets/header/footer in iOS/mobile-Safari

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am trying to debug a wordpress/Gantry framework site that is not loading correctly in iOS.

On iOS/iphone, the home page loads the grey background color of the central section of the web home page version, but no header, footer, slider or widget content.

On iOS/iphone, the content of internal pages loads but without the page title or header/footer widgets. http://ift.tt/19GM3Qw etc.

There are no error messages, using Safari User Agent tools.

Changing the theme to twentyfifteen allows the home page to load (but without the header/footer and widgets as these are all managed thru the theme).

Any suggestions for how to fix or, alternatively, get rid of the formatting specifically for iphone --> can I just delete ? so that it just becomes small and responsive (which seems OK in browser view) but not reformatted for phone specifically?
